if you do -help, it says that we support -pref

if you do mozilla -pref, it just launches mozilla.

we used to, at one point, support this.  but it has rotted.

If we don't want to waste time getting it working again (I recommend we don't
waste time on this right now.)  we should fix nsAppRunner.cpp to not print out 
"-pref		Start with pref window."

we should also stop building and packaging "Mozilla Preferences" on the mac.

I agree with sspitzer, we should drop the -pref startup arg.
I can't think of why we would need this.  If we were to implement
this, I'm guessing we could mimic the commandline services that
chatzilla and xmlterm use.

Re-opening bug and nominating for beta 3 because the application is not behaving 
correctly.

We have to restore the "-pref" option in the help.  More imporantly, if it's 
broken, then in needs to be fixed.  It's required for Win 98/NT/2K desktop 
integration.  In the future it may be required for other platforms as well.

Chris, please restore the help text for the Windows platform, and work with Bill 
Law to make this command-line switch function correctly on Windows.  I'm also 
assigning you bug #45859 to remove the "-pref" on Mac.

Once you restore the help text, consult with Bill because he may actually want 
to own fixing the command-line switch.

just spoke with don... since this is a requirement for win32 only, am adding the
pp kw.

it would be Really Nice if this were XP...ie, this to work on Mac and Linux as
well... so i'm gonna file another bug (enh) for that. if that new bug is fixed
(implemented, rather), then it would make bug 45859 invalid... but as things are
going, bug 45859 will prolly be resolved beforehand anyhow (sigh).

it's going to be harder to make this a win32-only feature than it would be to 
make it XP...  I recommend marking that new bug a dupe of this and removing 
"pp"..

I'm not sure what Don said about it being required for desktop integration is 
completely accurate.  It was true of Communicator, but only because that's how 
it was (being) done in Communicator.  I don't think it has to be true of 
Mozilla.  P2 is OK, but it could be minused, I believe.
