User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 I use multiple windows with multiple tabs. When I have to restart windows I get the Restore Session dialog (good, because I *DO* want to pick up where I left off). It takes Mozilla a while to start after an update, and I would like to streamline the startup by setting a Restore Session default answer, preferably by check box on that window, and necessarily somewhere in Options should I need to change the setting later. I suggest Tools > Options > Advanced > Session (new options tab) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open multiple windows 2. Force shutdown of Firefox 3. Start Firefox Actual Results: Restore Session dialog Expected Results: Used my default preference instead of prompting me to Restore Session.
Clarification: please disregard the part about "after and update" as that was simply a "for instance."

Firefox should be closed before Windows is shut down.
Component: Startup and Profile System → Session Restore
QA Contact: startup → session.restore
Version: unspecified → 2.0 Branch

Not going to introduce new UI for something you shouldn't see much at all. BTW: The main reason you see that prompt is bug 333907 which has been fixed for Firefox 3. See bug 394099 comment #3 for a work-around.

I think you folks are missing a point here. Many users, like myself, WANT to close the entire session and reopen it later. I realize that it was not quite the purpose that was in mind when the Restore Session feature was created. Perhaps the right choice of words for what I'm looking for should become Close/Stop Session and Resume Session?

Oh, so you've just missed Tools -> Options -> Main -> Startup -> When Firefox starts: -> "Show my windows and tabs from last time" And should you only selectively want to resume a session, please help yourself with one of the extensions listed at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search?q=session
(In reply to comment #5) > Oh, so you've just missed Tools -> Options -> Main -> Startup -> When Firefox > starts: -> "Show my windows and tabs from last time" Zoiks! Yes, yes I did. So sorry!
