Permit user to have a wholly transparent user interface; allow alpha channels such that the elements of the XUL may have a "layover" effect. This could permit very "cool" and processor-intensive effects, but I'm sure that they would make an excellent selling point.

Could this be done using PNGs and CSS? I mean, you can use PNGs for backgrounds and such for many elements. There is also the old <html:div> option.

or even a duplicate of bug 113232 ?
This is becoming important. Apple's WWDC demos were great, but there's no reason why Mozilla can't support similar such things for XUL apps and even web pages. Need a new bug owner here, I think. /be
Definitely a duplicate. This already works on GTK1, to the extent that GTK1 supports this. Dainis Jonitis had some code for Windows. Someone should ping him to see how he's doing. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 113232 ***
