Please permanently change the name to Seamonkey2 in all instances so that it can be run completely separate from the current Seamonkey. This would prevent it from overriding the current official release as it does now. Instead it should run side by side as if it were a completely different browser; which it is. Maxthon did this and since they were creating a completely new browser from the ground up like Seamonkey2 is, then it could be run, side by side, without interfering with the a users normal everyday setup, while so much programming and bug fixing will still be occurring long after it's release. It would be much easier to know without looking that Seamonkey2 is something completely different from the original Seamonkey.
Right now if I try and run Seamonkey and Seamonkey2 side by side, then it requires extra special care and renaming to prevent it from being confused and overwriting the shortcuts to the current release version. Despite this it still looks the same to Windows so I now have 2 references to Seamonkey without a clue as to which is which.
Gentleman and Ladies, please, this is a totally new program and it will not be perfect despite how long it takes to release. So I implore you, to maintain the users confidence in the totally new version by allowing us to run them seamlessly side by side so we can use both versions until we are confident that Seamonkey2 is really ready for prime time.
Thank You.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

File name Seamonkey.exe, Shortcut to Seamonkey, File Association; Seamonkey, Installing Seamonkey, running Seamonkey
Expected Results:

To all the world this program should be called Seamonkey2 in every instance.

SeaMonkey 2 replaces SeaMonkey 1.x whe it's released, we will keep the application name as "seamonkey.exe", etc.

Anyway, SeaMonkey 2 can still be installed together with SeaMonkey 1 as follows:
- Install both versions in different directories (obviously!)
- If you want to run both versions in parallel, run SeaMonkey 2 with the -no-remote command-line switch.
- If you want, you can make a softlink (on Linux) or a .bat file (on Windows) to invoke the nondefault version (the one which isn't in the PATH) with a full path when you type (for instance) seamonkey1 at the shell prompt.
Since Sm1 and Sm2 use different locations for their profiles, nothing specific is necessary to ensure that they use different profiles.
