Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.8.0.12) Gecko/20071126 Enterprise/1.5.0.12-7.el5.0.1 Firefox/1.5.0.12 pango-text

Firefox creates 'untitled windows' occasionally which do not respond to mouse
or keyboard events. They appear to occur from redraw events of instances
of Firefox in other Gnome virtual desktop panes (e.g. - a news website like
www.ft.com or a performance monitoring page like Oracle's Enterprise Manager which refreshes periodically). If you attempt to exit an 'untitled window'
it kills all instances of Firefox in all other Gnome panes. The problem appears to increase in frequency if you enable 'launch new application windows in new tab.' Oracle's Unbreakable Linux support team has been trouble shooting this issue since September 6, 2007, with not solution. We've tried different Linux kernels, removing all plugins, upgrading Firefox, upgrading Java (to JDK 1.5.0_14), removing cookies and profiles, etc. So far, there's no solution. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Launch Firefox in several panes with a few websites that have periodic refreshes.
2.Wait.
3.
Actual Results:
The 'untitled window' many not appear for several hours or even 1-2 days.

Expected Results:
You get an 'Untitled Window' which crashes all instances of Firefox if you attempt to exit it.

No 'Untitled Window's
Firefox 1.5 is at its end of life. Please use a build from http://mozilla.com to test.
Oracle's ULN Support will only support Firefox 1.5.
They won't support Firefox 2.0.
Then file the bug with Oracle. Mozilla made its last 1.5 release in May http://developer.mozilla.org/devnews/index.php/2007/07/18/firefox-2005-security-update/
I have experienced a similar problem from time-to-time in Firefox 3 nightly builds on Linux. I get empty, "Untitled window"s that cause Firefox to close without warning and without Breakpad triggering when the window is closed. It usually occurs when I have a lot of tabs open, so it is hard to pinpoint the cause. When it has occurred, I have had auto-reloading pages in some tabs.

I thought someone had filed a bug like this before for Firefox 3 on Linux, but I couldn't find it in a search. The only bug that turns up is a duplicate of a duplicate of a duplicate of bug 263160,

that sounds like the right bug
