Peter, this looks very similar to bug 409208. Double-frees are scary.

I think this is a dup of bug 406800. Bob: could you verify and reopen if not.

verified no crash with today's minefield and a debug build from this morning. I do get a failure in the test run and some nasty looking assertions from bug 415324.
