Summary: Freeze, must use force quit on mail login → Freeze, must use force quit on AIM/AOL Mail login
I tried to start FIREFOX, went to mail to log in, log in went okay, then it froze at this point-- time shown on AIM panel, I left and went out to let it have time, came back, launched Safari and easily accessed AIM mail, machine time shown in uppper right corner. That is over four hours, Safari, netscape, IE all work, FIREFOX must be "force quit" as it will not quit by any other method. If I launch Firefox and do not go to AIM mail it will work, but sluggishly.
Took laptop G4 to Panera Bread, used their ISP, duplicated failure there. It must be some combo of Firefox updates and AIM mail updates hating each other, and I am lost.
Found four others who have this error, some can close the page, some must force quit, all older G4 machines, all use SAFARI as means to access AOL mail.
Not only AOL mail, but my colleagues and I have found that AOL Instant Messenger fails to run (while simultaneously running the latest AIM version, and Firefox 3 Beta 4). One has to force quit AIM, but restarting it produces the same effect on AIM.
Latest updates combined Apple Security Fixes and Firefox made it "go away" on my machines, still have one person who is having the problem.

(In reply to comment #5) > Latest updates combined Apple Security Fixes and Firefox made it "go away" on > my machines, still have one person who is having the problem. is it clear this last person has the same problem?
He did, but he says no more freezes in the past few days after the new Firefox update install. He has an older and slow G4, that may be a factor.

Yes-- at this point it works for me. I prefer to know what a person means, than to guess at what he might mean, so I ask instead of using the Google "Wild F*ckn' Mess" answer.
