User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9b2) Gecko/2007121014 Firefox/3.0b2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9b2) Gecko/2007121014 Firefox/3.0b2 Focus is not given to the URL bar when editing a URL selected from the dropdown menu Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. go to a URL (http://www.cnn.com/POLITICS/ for example) to get it into history 2. in the URL bar, start typing a a url that matches it (http://www.cn) 3. once the first URL shows up in the Places dropdown, use the down arrow to select that URL (don't hit Return) 4. with the arrows and Delete key, edit the selected URL to only show http://www.cnn.com 5. hit Return to go to the URL Actual Results: Firefox goes to the original selected URL Expected Results: Firefox should go to the edited URL This only happens if you delete parts of the original selected URL from the dropdown and use the keyboard to pick letters. If you use the mouse or type a letter to modify the URL, then focus gets given to the URL bar and the browser goes to that edited URL when Return is pressed. If only Delete or arrows are used, focus remains on the selected URL in the drop down menu, and any edits to the URL are lost when Return is pressed. Caveat: if you had the 2nd shorter URL in your history, the Places dropdown sometimes selects that after you've deleted enough characters of the first longer URL.

I think you mean bug 400671, and thanks for the pointer. I searched on everything except 'autocomplete' :( The fix there will show up on Fx3b3, right?
Yes, this has been fixed in current nightlies and so will be fixed in 3.0b3 when that is released; which is supposed to be later this month IIRC.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
