(Whiteboard: eta: firefox 3 rc, beta week of 2/18)

We are working on this and are planning to release a compatible version when Firefox 3 reaches a release candidate stage and when AMO officially accepts Firefox 3 compatible versions.

Yep, we should have one ready, we're planning to release it very soon to get some initial feedbacks and bug reports.

We've been doing quite a lot of work to iron out the last quirks, the plan is to release the beta next week. Sorry for the delay :)

our latest version supports Firefox 3: http://www.foxytunes.com/firefox/download/ http://downloads.foxytunes.com/firefox/FoxyTunes_2.9.7.21.xpi please let me know if you encounter any issues or regressions.
hi alex, what are the plans for getting this submitted on AMO? think you will be able to do that soon? it would be great it if we could get this in the hands of firefox 3 beta testers.

Works well for me on OSX 10.4 + iTunes. When are you planning on submitting it to AMO?
alex, chris - a question about AMO - we never had two different versions of FoxyTunes on AMO simultaneously. Typically, we release a beta on our site and when we're sure that many people already installed it and are using it without any issues, it goes gold and we submit this version to AMO. So, now AMO has the latest stable version. Is it possible for AMO to have both the stable and the latest beta versions of FoxyTunes?

Just upload the add-on to the sandbox, but do not nominate it for public addition. This will put it on AMO, but will not push updates, and will allow people to grab the fix if they choose to.
Alex, just checking in again. Any updates on getting FoxyTunes beta on AMO?
Alex, we're working on the next beta of FoxyTunes, had to make a few adjustments for FFb5, among other things. We're hoping to have it ready and release it within a week. As I mentioned above, our main concern with uploading to AMO is that the new beta version will replace the main (stable) version by mistake. How can we make sure that we upload to the sandbox and that two version would co-exist on AMO? Is there any specific flag during new version upload? Also, FoxyTunes is 'trusted' on AMO - does this change the upload/sandbox status in any way?
Alex, just to be clear, you want to upload a new beta version -- that works with both Fx2 and Fx3, you just do not want it to go completely public yet.
AMO doesn't explicitly support "beta versions" of the same add-on per se. I need to examine the exact behavior of "trusted" add-on and the sandbox before I can definitively tell you that this will work. Also, we need to ensure that it doesn't affect the Update service since it's trusted, it usually goes out public. Will comment again once I've had a chance to verify this.
(In reply to comment #14) > Alex, just to be clear, you want to upload a new beta version -- that works > with both Fx2 and Fx3, you just do not want it to go completely public yet. yep. the concern is to have the new version we upload, which is still in beta, be automatically pushed to all the existing users (or new users who are not Fx3 early adopters). btw - in any case, you can get Fx3 compatible version of FoxyTunes on our site: http://www.foxytunes.com/firefox/download/
A quick update - we just released a new version of FoxyTunes compatible with the latest beta of Firefox 3: http://www.foxytunes.com/firefox/download/ http://downloads.foxytunes.com/firefox/FoxyTunes_3.0.1.xpi
Alex/Basil, I wonder if its possible to do something like: - get the foxy tunes update submitted to amo, - get the reviews completed, - then hold the xpi in the queue - then push it out simultaneous with the release of firefox 3.
maybe just attaching the new .xpi to this tracking bug could also help to get the review process started so things are ready to wrap up quickly on release day, or just before.
Alex -- would you be willing to upload the add-on to AMO, but not push go in it leaving the sandbox? That way you'll be all set once Firefox 3 is out the door.
We've uploaded the latest FoxyTunes to AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/219 It supports Firefox 3 and also is backwards compatible with FF 2
week cant you or any one make a something that works with all that makes you grate before you release it or don't offer the Add on if it wont work you know all you need to is say in the description that it dose not work let with 3.0 then i would not be tempted to go back to opera
updated, thanks!
