Details
On Linux, DGA would provide a *significant* performance boost (this bug should
be keyword 'perf'), but must be carefully done since it requires suid. I
believe it is worth investigation, when resources permit.

Yeah. We'll get right on that.
Blizzard, do you want this bug? It doesn't sound like layout, which is
essentially all XP code.

While this is certainly an interesting idea, this is a bit too much work at the
moment (considering the many other features/bugs that need to be worked on).
Mozilla is open source, feel free to submit a patch for this (or get/hire
someone to contribute).
