Safari apparently does this, and we do it (or have bugs on the fact that we don't do it) everywhere else, so we should fix this too. [7:18pm] <ardissone|away> we only have bugs on the Bookmark Bar and Bookmark Bar folder menus, not the Bookmarks Menu [7:19pm] <smorgan> That's what I thought, which is why I was surprised by a response that said it was a bug we were working on [7:19pm] <smorgan> So we should file it [7:19pm] <smorgan> It's p-safari, surprisingly [7:19pm] <ardissone|away> i didn't realize it didn't work, i guess

Our existing bugs are bug 228840 (on the Bookmark Bar itself, and which has Håkan's patch) and bug 228839 (on items in menus in Bookmark Bar folders).
It looks like this is new behavior for Safari in Leopard, so I suspect that the following (from the AppKit release notes) is relevant: "For applications linked on or after Leopard, -[NSApplication currentEvent] will reflect the event that caused menu tracking to end during the action of the selected menu item."
So this is p-safari only on 10.5+, and should just Magically Work™ on 10.5+ if we use |NSApp currentEvent| *and* do the build on a 10.5+ machine? Does that mean this isn't realistically fixable until after we drop 10.4 support entirely?
This bug has been buried in the graveyard and has not been updated in over 5 years. It is probably safe to assume that it will never be fixed, so resolving as WONTFIX. [Mass-change filter: graveyard-wontfix-2014-09-24]
