Most of the average user may not know what to do with it. Providing a standard file selector (like OpenOffice) is better. Maybe someone can "steal" some code there. A second problem is that the progress indicator does not disappear if printing is complete. You have to click "Cancel". This may lead to assume that printing has failed even it was successful. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. File -> Print 2. Select "Print To File" 3. Click "OK" Actual Results: A basic dialog for entering a filename is shown. Expected Results: A standard file selector should appear.

Confirming the main issue here (need a 'file picker' dialog for 'print to file'), using Firefox 3.5.6 on WinXP. I don't hit the second issue that you described ("the progress indicator does not disappear if printing is complete"), though -- if you can still reproduce that, please file a separate bug report on it.

Hi everyone, We're now at version 18 and we still don't have a standard file selector. This is really annoying and makes very difficult to use for non technical people. here's a screenshot of what happens so you can get an idea.
here's the print-as-file dialog, it would need a dialog such as "save as" to navigate through the system to specify a location
