User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9b3pre) Gecko/2008013105 Firefox/3.0b3pre
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9b3pre) Gecko/2008013105 Firefox/3.0b3pre

On my wifes' browser full screen zoom turns the pictures into a black box sometimes. An example is at the URL. I will deliver a screen shot from when it is

Unzoomed
Zoomed x1
Zoomed x2

My wife tells me icons and smaller pictures usually show, though she did show me one example of a 320x211 picture not zooming (black box).

The Build Identifier is incorrect, this is on a different box from which I type this bug. We have tried this on 3.0b1 3.0b2 and nightly/2008-02-04-04-trunk/ all with the same results.

This is not exclusive to the file type, we have witnessed this happen on jpeg and gif files.

This profile was started clean with firefox-3.0b1.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit Websites (not only the one listed above)
2. Zoom this tab
3. Some pictures turn black some don't.
OK, due to attachment limitations the following are the pictures promised from the bug:

With no full screen zoom.

With full screen zoom 1x

With full screen zoom 2x

I can confirm this behavior.
I've tried a full wipe + fresh install of 3.0b3 - same problem.
Safe mode - same problem.

It's basically when an image is zoomed, it gets offset from it's frame. When smaller, it moves up and left. Larger, it moves down/right. This hits 'fit image to screen' zooms as well as full-page zooms.

I have two machines with the same window manager, one exhibits the problem, the other does not. I'm really at a loss here, but it's a major blocker for firefox3 me. Any ideas at what I could look into?
With the line 'Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true"' in the driver section, the images zoom properly. Without it (or set to false) they offset vertically as they zoom.

This is on a radeon video driver - Avulton, what kind of video card do you have on the non-working machine?

Hope this helps someone track it down - bleeding-edge people (who try firefox 3b3) are likely to have that line set to get things like AIGLX working (compiz, etc). When the firefox3 final gets released, it's going to be going to people who have not tweaked their Xorg config file, and will be nearly unusable for them. If someone else can confirm this it really should be a blocker.

I can only test on the radeon opensource driver - other video drivers may have different settings.

This is absolutely correct and is a good workaround. I imagine the workaround would be the same for the open source nvidia driver, because I'm having the same problem on another computer. That computer is remote and unreachable by network means, so it makes testing it somewhat difficult.
Summary: Full screen zoom makes pictures black sometimes. → Full screen zoom makes pictures black if XAANoOffscreenPixmaps is not explicitly set to true.
I have the same problem on X.org 6.9.0 with Firefox-3b5. Other than
using "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps", changing the "DefaultDepth" to 16 also
fixes the image display on zooming on my machine. Occasionally some
part of any root window image appears partly where the image
should leaving the rest of the image black. HW details below:

CPU: AMD Athlon(TM) XP 2000+
OS: Linux-2.6.25
MB: Asus A7N266-VM
GPU: nVidia GeForce2 Integrated GPU on board (32MB shared memory)
libc: glibc-2.7
X: Xorg-6.9.0
gtk: 2.12.9
cairo: 1.6.4
pango: 1.20.2
glitz: 0.5.6

Thanks,
Rajeev

PS. I've noticed this problem in all the Firefox 3.0 beta releases. The problem
also does not appear if you select the "Zoom Text Only" option.
