I made up:
http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Location+bar+search
Is something like that what we need here? I'd also like to include a link to an article about doing a quick search, but I'll save that for another day.

Hehe. "mozilla firefox" does not result in www.mozilla.com. :-)
Ha, darn. I was just guessing; I have OpenDNS on my router in my apartment, which responds for any query... Feel free to substitute something that is actually true.

- Remember to set the language.
- "Bar" should not be capitalized.
- I'd say this deserves a table of contents.
- Use a working example for google's browse by name. :-)
- Mention that name without a clear match will result in a google search, and you will be taken to the search results page.
- I assume there's going to be confusion between this and smart keywords <http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Smart+keywords>. We should probably mention that turning off keyword.enabled does not affect smart keywords.
- Specify that a value of false disables the feature. (In other words, tell users how to interpret what they are seeing.)
- Mention that domain guessing does not work unless keyword.enabled is set turned off.
- I think "partial URL" is a bad description.

"Location Bar" is the name of a feature, so should be capitalized. It's capitalized in in-product help.
OK, I think I addressed the comments...
- I went with np's "Location Bar," since I think in-product help is a good indicator.
- I can get a working Browse by Name example tomorrow when I go to campus, since I probably won't switch out OpenDNS tonight, but feel free to substitute a real one.
- AH, "smart keywords," not "quick search." I thought I was going to write that one; good to see it's already there and I don't have to save it for another day.
- I said about Domain Guessing: "it does not work unless Internet Keywords are disabled." - I think this is esoteric enough that I don't need to repeat the instructions for doing that, but I could be wrong.
- I went with "incomplete URL," having found nothing authoritative in http://www.mozilla.org/docs/end-user/domain-guessing.html - feel free to come up with a better term.
I had another profound thought related Location bar issues, but now I can't think of what it it was.

Moved to KB at:
Tue 12 of Feb., 2008 12:42 EST
- de-capitalized "Bar" (Customize window says "Location". We'll change the in-product content.)
- removed first note about smart keywords.
- moved second note about smart keywords before instructions on turning it off.
- simplified about:config instructions
- used PREF tag for pref values
- implemented SHOWFOR plugin (for displaying OS specific content)
Any further discussion about the article should take place on the staging copy of the article.
