Overview Description: This url uses DHTML and JavaScript to display dropdown menus from the top, green button bar. However the menu text is still displayed in the main body of the page, in a white font, leaving a large gap. Steps to Reproduce: 1)load the url 2)mouse over one of the top green buttons, ie "News", "Columns", "Reviews", etc. Actual Results: No menu appears as it should. The page has a fairly large white gap below the buttons, if you use select that area, you'll notice that it's text: the headlines that are supposed to appear in the menus. Expected Results: Menus should display properly and gap should be nonexistent...all as in 4.x. Build Date & Platform Bug Found: 2000060508, Win98 Additional Builds and Platforms Tested On: none Additional Information: Part of this could be DHTML incompatibilites, but we should try to get as close as we can.
this could also be related to bug 16963, which relates to similar menus on SGI's page. However this seems to be a bit different. Console message when you mouse over one of the green buttons is: JavaScript error: http://www.variety.com/scripts/iHorzNav.js line XXX: document.layers has no properties (line varies for link, examples include 49, 91, 218, 11)
Mozilla doesn't plan to support document.layers - see http://sites.netscape.net/ekrock/upgrade/standards.html for instructions on using document.getElementById() on your websites instead. i filed bug 41756 to complain about the unenlightening error message you reported.
