(In reply to comment #1) > do you see any error in the Error Console ? > nope, i just tried to bookmark a page with error console open and it's blank...No errors, warnings or messages (from the bookmarking at least)
if you used a single click on the star, the bookmark is created in the Unfiled Bookmarks folder. This WFM on Win XP, Mac and Linux
(In reply to comment #3) > if you used a single click on the star, the bookmark is created in the Unfiled > Bookmarks folder. > > > This WFM on Win XP, Mac and Linux > OH...****...I thought it would put it in the bookmarks menu "folder"...My bad...Just wondering, is there any way to change this behavior (to make it create bookmarks in the bookmarks menu folder)?

Bookmark > Bookmark This Page should default to Menu Folder. I don't know a way to change the default for the star. It was intentionally not set to Menu Folder there.

I have the same problem on Mac OSX 10.5 I do not have a Unfiled bookmark folder". The Console reports errors Warning: Expected declaration but found '*'. Skipped to next declaration. Source File: http://l.yimg.com/a/lib/my/css/core_0.1.193.css Line: 1 I can not save bookmarks of any kind. The normal pull down to save to does not work with v3.
I went in looking for Unsorted bookmarks and it was missing. When I went to organize it added it to the very bottom. Still clicking on the star generates the following error. Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [nsINavBookmarksService.insertBookmark]" nsresult: "0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED)" location: "JS frame :: file:///Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/components/nsPlacesTransactionsService.js :: PCIT_doTransaction :: line 374" data: no] Using the std Add Bookmark from pull down menu generates this error: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [nsINavBookmarksService.insertBookmark]" nsresult: "0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED)" location: "JS frame :: file:///Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/components/nsPlacesTransactionsService.js :: PCIT_doTransaction :: line 374" data: no] Repeatability is every time, I have NO way of adding new bookmarks. I am being forced to backup to v2 till I get this corrected. This bug is real in OSX, blowing it off as it was done is premature.
David, the error you pasted indicates that there is a permissions problem on your computer, that prevents Firefox from being able to write to the disk. This is not a problem we can solve in the bookmarks code.
This is a new Mac, I have admin rights I also have run disk check and file permission checks all came up clean. The problem seams to be related to the way v3 imported the bookmarks. Doing it manually I was able to get things to work. May be with the data files coming from a different pc impacted the import. I failed to look to see if the data files were locked (write protected). This may be the underlining problem.
Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
