This is new in this version, old version and IE respond quickly - gmail is so slow it is unusable

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
On gmail's message list view, each line contains a star graphic (cleardot.gif). When the message list is drawn, the stars are downloaded one by one. For me on a fast connection this takes upwards of 10 seconds for a list of 20 messages. And clicking on a message will not load until all of the star graphics are loaded. So that's 10> seconds before on can start reading mail coming from the message list. I agree with OP, gmail on F3B3 is so slow it is unusable.
Actually its even worse than i described above, until all the images are drawn the interface is unresponsive, eg you cant even switch tabs.
I noticed that I had browser.cache.memory.enable set to false. After setting it to true, I have been unable to reproduce the issue.
I meet this issue every time I take action in Gmail. E.g.:
- On login
- When clicking a message to read it
- Browsing folders

It takes app. 10 seconds for me to navigate, each time.

This is only on Windows, on my Mac Firefox runs smoothly.
