If an older version of Thunderbird is installed and the update channel changed to "betatest", where Thunderbird 2.0.0.12rc1 is waiting, the user can get a dialog offering to update to Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 when they check for updates.

The link for "View more information about this update" in the dialog goes to http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0.0.12/releasenotes/ instead of the a Thunderbird page though. This link should give the URL to the TB release notes.

JuanB noted that the detailsURL in active-update.xml is pointing to this Firefox URL as well.

It's a patcher config issue, giving snippets with
  detailsURL="http://en-US.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0.0.12/releasenotes/"

Will work up a new set of update snippets.
