User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9b3) Gecko/2008020511 Firefox/3.0b3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9b3) Gecko/2008020511 Firefox/3.0b3 I use a PC mouse with my Macbook. During normal browsing, I very often right-click links and select "Open in new tab". Very, very often, right-clicking on a link will basically stop working as expected - it will automatically and randomly perform some unexpected behavior rather than popping up the right-click context menu as it should. Examples of behavior: - Automatically open the link in a new tab - Automatically open a new e-mail in Apple Mail with the link in the body of the message - Automatically open the link in a new window - Do nothing - Automatically open my Google Notebook and add the link as a note I've tried reproducing the problem on the same links and haven't found any consistency in behavior - it seems to be pretty random and unrelated to the link in question. As you might imagine this is quite frustrating. I've found that when this happens, right-clicking several times on a blank portion of the page and then right-clicking on the link restores expected behavior. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: This is quite random, happens several times a day but I haven't been able to find out why despite my best efforts. Actual Results: - The right-click context menu should pop up but it doesn't and some random action automatically happens instead. Expected Results: - Right-click context menu should appear.
I run the 3.0 beta 3 on my Vista PC as well and have never seen this problem there.
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre) Gecko/2008031104 Minefield/3.0b5pre Can not duplicate How to duplicate (or not) 1. use a 2 button mouse with scroll wheel 2 In MINEFIELD, navigate to: http://www.google.com/prdhp?hl=en&tab=wf RESULT - Google product Search page appears 3. Right click -context click on any link result: MAC OS X pop up window appears with the following menu items: Open link in New Window Open link in New Tab Bookmark This Link Save link As ... Send link ... Copy link Location Properties 4. If you right click - not on a link - you get a different POP UP BOX as follows back (dimmed) Forward Reload Stop (dimmed) Bookmark This page Save Page As ... View background Image (dimmed) Select All View page Source View page Info
Keep in mind, this happens to me several times throughout an entire day. A couple of clicks won't necessarily be able to reproduce it. E.g. it'll happen a few times while checking out 3-4 pages on Digg (viewing at least 5-6 links per page). Is there anywhere that I can get an OS X binary built off the trunk?
This is also reported in Ubuntu (Linux) 8.04LTS. I can confirm similar erratic behaviour on AMD64 Ubuntu 8.04LTS with Firefox 3 beta5.
Hi, I had reported this problem in Launchpad in greater detail. Here are the links: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/187313/comments/31 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/187313/comments/36 To summarize, I believe that the menu is opened with a right-click, and then when I right click on another link (after putting out the menu by left clicking elsewhere, pressing escape, etc), it behaves as though I've clicked on the menu item that was there when the menu was open. I could paste whatever I've found while experimenting over this bug in more detail here if requested, but the full text of everything I've reported are there in those links. Therefore, it is not completely erratic, or random. If you read what I've written in Launchpad, you can predict what is going to happen. Please take a look.
