Screen reader access in gnome is provided by Orca. On some web pages, useful information or locations within a page are indicated with images. The Find utility needs to be able to search within the text of alt tags to allow the screen reader user to move to these locations. For instance, go to http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/forecast/MapClick.php?site=slc&textField1=40.79&textField2=-111.97&zone=1#contents

On this page, there are three sections that I regularly read--forecast at a glance, detailed text forecast, and the current conditions.  The first two of these areas are indicated by images using alt tags. I would like to be able to navigate directly to these locations by searching for the text in the alt tags using the Find utility.

Suggestion: This functionality should be selected by the user.  I would suggest that a check box be added to the Accessibility panel under Advanced Preferences to allow the user to enable searching for text within alt tags.

This issue was raised on the Orca development mailing list and all responses supported the addition of this functionality.
