The version of cairo shipped with the latest SuSE Linux release (openSUSE 10.3 plus all online updates to date -- I checked just before writing this comment) is currently labeled 1.4.10-25.2. Will Mozilla (i.e. Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey...) trunk builds still run on it?
Our trunk builds use our internal version of cairo, so yes.

Could you please add a reason each time you bump internal cairo ? such as "needed for feature x, or bug y" or even "catch-up with cairo" when there's no particular reason. That would definitely help those building with system cairo.
Thanks.

The bug-specific reasons are listed in the set of bugs that this blocks, e.g. 419917 in this case. However, in general, the reason will always be "approach 1.6", because that's the official version of cairo that we'll be shipping with and supporting.
