421381 - Realplayer 10 crashes with Firefox 3

Realplayer 10 crashes when invoked in Firefox 3. This was found on Linux (Fedora Core 8) with build Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b4) Gecko/2008030318 Firefox/3.0b4, the Beta 4 candidate.

Going to http://www.rhapsody.com/clapton/commercials/1, Realplayer content attempts to play (you'll be prompted to download Realplayer 10 if you don't already have it).

On Firefox 2.0.0.12 on the same system, the plugin's window will draw inline on the page but the video doesn't play. It does not crash the browser though. On Firefox 3, the entire browser will hang and usually then crash (or it just hangs forever).

FWIW, i installed RPv11, and its not crashing.  However, from the testURL listed, the video plays fine, but the RP media controls dont work.

If we can get more confirmation that RP10 is crashy, we can recommend blocklisting this.

I'm on XP SP3. I tried this with RP 11 and 10, and no crash on either. I'll try it out on Ubuntu later to confirm.

Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/

If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
