connection cut me off whilst filing this bug.. see screenshot; the current date should be "三月十一日" instead of "三 11" that we see now. The en-US version has the string "March 11" for comparison.
Summary: wrong → incorrect translation of date
i see it on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; zh-CN; rv:184.108.40.206pre) Gecko/20080310 Sunbird/0.8
I just fix this question, but there is no corresponding date of the translation, example: "March 11" may be translate to "三月 11".
I'm not sure how tough it is to translate to "三月十一日" instead of "三月 11" this late in the 0.8 game. But at least "三月 11" is an improvement over "三 11". It works better, though not ideally.
I can't decide if the current translation is correct or not. But the displayed string is created by calDateTimeFormatter::formatDateWithoutYear(): http://bonsai.mozilla.org/cvsblame.cgi?file=/mozilla/calendar/base/src/calDateTimeFormatter.js&rev=220.127.116.11&mark=162-169#162 The short month name used is taken from month.[1-12].Mmm in http://mxr.mozilla.org/l10n-mozilla1.8/source/zh-CN/calendar/chrome/calendar/dateFormat.properties#39 If you are going to change this strings don't forget that this might effect many other places as well, e.g. print output, today pane, date picker.
since this occurs in 0.7 already, this shouldn't block 0.8 release.

Severity: normal → minor

Does the issue still exists using a recent Sunbird 0.9pre nightly build?
