Details

To demonstate this, do the following:

1. Enter y:\ on the url line

2. You get an inappropriate error message saying "y is not a recognized 
protocol.  That problem has been reported in bug report 42295.

3. At this point you cannot make any changes to the value on the url line.

Not sure what component to assign this to.  But since 42295 is obviously a 
networking problem, and this bug occurs only after 42295 has been trigerred, I'm 
assigning this to networking as well, at least for starters.
This sounds like a dup of bug 42074 to me, despite the summary of 42074 (which 
is misleading - that bug really covers the latest problem that you often can't 
type in the URL bar).  Reopen if you disagree . . .
