autofill won't ask to capture form data on Mac with a new profile
observed using today's opt commercial trunk bits, 2000.06.12.14-m17 on Mac OS 9.0. not a problem on winnt or linux. 0. in Preferences > Advanced > Forms and Passwords, make sure that the checkbox is enabled for "Save form data from webpages when completing forms." 1. go fill out a form at a popular site. in my case, i changed my eBay user registration information (after logging into my eBay, you'll end up at a form located at http://cgi4.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll). 2. click the form's submit button. in my case, it was a button labelled "change registration information." expected: at this point, i should get a dialog asking me whether i want to save the form data (which occurs on linux and winnt, today's m17 bits). result: i don't get an autofill prompt dialog --and nor is the data collected.
Putting on [nsbeta2+] radar for beta2 fix.
updated summary. i don't encounter this problem (or, rather, autofill does work by asking to capture the form data on submission) when using an existing profile. however, this is still a problem when using a fresh, new profile. workaround for new profile: explicitly capture the form data (via Tasks... menu item).
Summary: autofill won't ask to capture form data on Mac → autofill won't ask to capture form data on Mac with a new profile
Think I got it this time. Was test for \n as end-of-line character whereas mac uses \r. Fix is in wallet.cpp.
