Ctrl-z on search bar box dont work

Steps:-
1. press ctrl-z to goto search box
2. type something 
3. press ctrl-z (or right click and select Undo)

Result:
nothing happens

Expected:
what ever typed should go, and then ctrl-y should bring it back
