Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en; rv:1.9b5pre) Gecko/2008031200 Camino/2.0a1pre (like Firefox/3.0b5pre)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en; rv:1.9b5pre) Gecko/2008031200 Camino/2.0a1pre (like Firefox/3.0b5pre)

For testing purposes I created a self signed certificate for my localhost apache installation.

While I can connect to my local apache using https while browsing with Safari (which also issues a warning but I can override this) Camino refuses the connection completely:

Secure Connection Failed

192.168.193.23 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed.
The certificate is only valid for localhost.

(Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer)

    * This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.

    * If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

Or you can add an exception…

You should not add an exception if you are using an internet connection that you do not trust completely or if you are not used to seeing a warning for this server.

If you still wish to add an exception for this site, you can do so in your advanced encryption settings.

The problem is that those magically "advanced encryption settings" don't exist in Camino.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a site with a self signed certificate
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Page doesn't load, no way to override the denial:

Secure Connection Failed

Expected Results:
Some sort of button saying "load regardless of warning"
I believe we've been duping these to bug 398417.
