User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-GB; rv:1.9b4) Gecko/2008030714 Firefox/3.0b4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-GB; rv:1.9b4) Gecko/2008030714 Firefox/3.0b4 I'm using a Fujitsu v5505 laptop. If the computer goes to sleep, when it's woken Firefox is able to establish connections to new/current websites open in the tabs for about 20 mins. After that it won't connect to any website at all. If I close firefox (File>Exit or click the X), Firefox doesn't end properly. I have to go to the task manager and close the process. And then if I open Firefox again, it will connect to sites for about 30 mins before the same problem occurs. the only way to stop this is to reboot windows. My connection is ok, as I can open websites in IE7 when this problem occurs. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Let laptop go to sleep 2.Wake laptop 3.Browse for around 20 minutes 4.Close firefox from File>Exit 5.Stop the process in Task Manager 6.Restart firefox. 7.reboot Vista Actual Results: Firefox works normally once Vista is restarted - until the computer goes to sleep again. Expected Results: Connect to websites. End the process upon Exit I only have the DOM plugin installed. I normally have 8-9 tabs open. I haven't tried it with just one tab to see if it still does this. My tabs reopen when I restart firefox.

What does "netstat -b -o" say when problem occurs? (See Bug 411258 Comment #1 & Bug 411258 Comment #3. See also 390258, Bug 361060) Restart of Firefox is a effective recovery procedure?

Restarting Firefox makes the program useable for about ten or twenty minutes. The only effective recovery procedure is to restart Vista

(In reply to comment #2) > Restarting Firefox makes the program useable for about ten or twenty minutes. Does it mean that your MS Win Vista enters Stand By mode or suspends(hibernation) after 10 or 25 minutes due to your "Power Management" related settings? Or problem occurs usually after 10 or 25 minutes use of Firefox even though no Stand By/Suspend, once Stand By or Suspend occurs?

The problem occurs after Vista enters Standby OR Hibernation mode - either due to power management settings or because I manually put it into this mode. Upon waking from this Firefox only works for about 10-25 minutes. I do not get this problem if Vista does not go into Standby or Hibernation. I'm thinking the variable amount of time before Firefox stops working may be due to the amount of data, rather than an explicit timing issue. ?
I can confirm this bug for Firefox 3.0.1 on Windows XP SP3. I had Firefox 2 installed before with no problem and after the upgrade I had this problem: Sometimes no pages con be loaded after standby.

Meric De Silva, do you still see this problem using newer version of firefox? I've not seen this.

Wayne.... This no longer happens in the recent versions of FF. Everything now appears to work fine and I have no problems. After a lot of (googled) investigation I was under the impression that it was due to the way FF gets a random number by looking in your \useraccount\MyDocuments\ or some such folder. It was so long ago I can't remember what I actually did... but I made some changes and haven't had the problem since.
