Details
If Bugzilla supported OASIS SAML 2.0 spec, as Identity Provider and Service Provider, a Bugzilla instance could use the user accounts of the other configured Bugzilla instances.
For example this could open a new world for Linux distributions. They could more easily forward their their Bugzilla users to use upstream's (kernel, gnome, mozilla.org, ...) Bugzilla instances.

We could do the same with OpenID, too, which is more likely where we'd go.

OASIS SAML is one of the enterprise requirements.
My Company is using Bugzilla as internal process management tool
and now try to expand bugzilla as customer support platform.
SAML is very interesting mechanism for corporate.
currently we use SAML as default authentication method for our public service.
I think OpenID can be co-exist with SAML Identity Provider.
