Since other stock icons are being used all over the interface, I don't see why this should be different Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
That search icon is only being used for "find in this page", which is the kind of context the stock icon is meant to be used for.

I propose the severity either be changed to enhancement or trivial. This seems to be an enhancement upon what is already present in Firefox, and therefore is not a bug nor is it urgent. As for my opinion, I agree to the use of the icons as displayed in the mock-up. Thanks for your report David, well worth it.
As mentioned, gtk-search is already used for in-page search. The system-search icon is not an option because it is not accessible via GTK stock. The web-search is only shipped with deskbar-applet, right (IIRC I did that one)? For me this is a WONTFIX
