After automatic update a pane is visible below status bar

Firefox did an automatic update and when firefox restarted after install, a pane appeared below the status bar with the words "<menuitem" and "_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ^"under that.
About the thickness of 5 status bars, full width.

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:
fault occured: pane appears : page space taken : nothing noticable in menus to unselect it. Whatever it is.
Expected Results:
not showed pane.

An extension that is running in Firefox is probably broken.

Disabled all add ons and restarted both firefox then computer. Pane still exists.

Did you try safe-mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode_(Firefox)
If the problem is gone in safe-mode then something might be running from your application directory. In that case first remove the Mozilla Firefox folder (right-click -> delete) and then reinstall Firefox.

Did the safe mode, and clicked disable all add-ons. clicked make changes and restart.
Firefox now appears normal.
Manually enabled all add-ons. restarted firefox. Firefox still appears normal.
