A lot of people think that the current blue smudge on the drop down arrow is some type of visual glitch, and this indicator also doesn't have any correlation with the new item added to the menu.

Possible solutions:
-Make a subtle change to the entire button on all platforms, similar to Linux
-Move the new search engine to the top of the list to give it a stronger correlation and improve discovery
-Use a similar shape or color to tie the change in appearance in the button to the new item added to the menu
