Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080311 Firefox/2.0.0.13
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080311 Firefox/2.0.0.13

Upon entering a user name and password, Firefox offers to remember the password "yes, no, not now" basically. THE PROBLEM is the fact that it will not wait to see if the login was successful before asking. I often visit sites where I do not necessarily remember the chosen password immediately and may have to try more then once to login. In this case I have to completely revisit the site once logged in and re-login to tell Firefox to go ahead and remember this password. This is cumbersome. Unless it has something to do with encryption I don't see why the dialog box to remember the password can't pop up AFTER the login is shown to be successful.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to a website that asks for a login.
2.Enter login details and attempt login.

Actual Results:
I must choose to save the login info BEFORE I know if it was correct or not.

Expected Results:
The desired protected page should load completely and then a dialog box should offer to remember the password. I realize some people may not want this feature so it could easily be made optional.
This is already fixed in Firefox 3.

Try out a beta, if you're interested!

Just a note, Firefox still doesn't know itself if the login was successful, but at least it asks you afterwards so you can tell whether it worked or not.
