Existing tiki modules should be added to the contributor home page:
1) Recent forum topics & forum posts
2) SUMO blog RSS feed
3) Recent article changes
4) Prominent links to Support forum, Contributors forum, Live Chat pages (basic support handbook, installing Spark), and a BMO link to article bugs that need fixed.

The idea is to have this page become a hub for contributors. Some of the content at the existing page may be moved to "Getting Involved"
I"m not sure we should overload the homepage with too much component specific functions, though we should have ones where appropriate and where it's not cluttered.

IMO we should have a homepage for logged in contributors that will show a bunch of the latest changes and news feed things, but we should also have a similar page as to what we have now that's more a portal about how to get started. We shouldn't mix the content too much between the two.
Removing URL, because we need to find out if the Contributor Home Page is linked on any of the Firefox 3 in-product pages[1]; and if it is too late to update the en-US pages (I know some of them have been cleared for l10n.) If that's the case, and we end up having a separate page for new contributors[2], this may have to go on a new page.

Could a "Contributor Portal" page be created for this? It would be nice to have a portal page to link to for sumo day.
Contributor home is indeed in the www.mozilla.com Firefox 3 in-product pages.
<http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/mozilla.com/branches/firefox3/en-US/firefox/community/index.html?view=markup>
However we're getting them to change it to <http://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+contribute>; so we can use the contributor home page for this.

Making this dependent on bug 429158, which is about changing the link in the sumo banner.

In the meantime, let's list everything we want in the portal. Is the list in comment 0 everything?
Summary: Add modules to contributor home page → Redesign Contributor Home Page
Right now, I'm thinking we could split this up into sections for Community/Project news, KB, Forums, Live Chat.
Within each each section, have modules for blog feed, latest changes, latest forum posts, Live Chat docs.
The draft shows lots of useful, dynamic content. The big problem is figuring out what is most important (what to show first).

* Short opening paragraphs for each section would help explaining what they are for. For example, under Knowledge Base, something as simple as "Learn how to:" above the list would make it clearer what the links are for.

* Can we limit the number of blog posts to e.g. 5?

* A list of e.g. the 5 most recent contributor forum posts would be nice to have above the blog feed.
Second draft is up (same URI).
I'm left the Forums and Live Chat sections alone. I figure Jason and Lucy can edit those sections as they see fit.

Per feedback from status meeting, I've removed the since last visit module, and put it in the sidebar.
I also changed the "Want to help out?" link in the User Tools box, to point to http://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+contribute .

So now, were just waiting for the patch from bug 429158 to be pushed from staging to production, and I'll copy over the new contributor home page.
