Moving this discussion out of bug 415600.

Web-based protocol handlers are documented on http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Web-based_protocol_handlers, I see that you copied over the en-US defaults into region.properties, i.e., 30boxes for the webcal: protocol and yahoo mail for mailto:. That's cool, I think we have two remaining nits to fix, though:

- we should bump gecko.handlerService.defaultHandlersVersion to 1, that number needs to be incremented each time a change lands, and yahoo got added later.
- I'm not sure if 30 boxes should have their name translated, as their service isn't available on Frisian.

Could you create a patch to implement these two changes and request review on that from me?

About Frisian protocol handlers, as laid out in the docs above, there are some server side changes required to make this work, which is why the en-US defaults are pretty limited right now, too. If more opportunities come up, in general or for Frisian, please file bugs to get them included in a Firefox 3.0.x release, and CC Mic and me.
