All bookmarks have vanished. I tried too upgrade to the NEW Firefox, but still no luck.  The Internet history has also disappeared before todays date.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Firefox and there are no Bookmarks

I need my Bookmarks back...........any help or fix?


You know the answer.....   Tried to use the Windows XP system restore and that didn't work. It would not let me. I also checked for Viruses (full system scan) and that turned out negative also.

You should use the extension FEBE by Chuck Baker (https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-BR/firefox/user/1186) before this happened.

But, this is normally caused by a crash. e.g. one day I were using Shockwave and Firefox crashed. Then, my Windows stopped responding and I needed to shut it down forcing.

Since then my profile was reset.

And you should use http://del.icio.us to save your bookmarks.

Case 1: Archive of favorites reset

For any failure, his file of favorites may have been emptied. Fortunately, Firefox makes periodic copies of files and the losses may have been small.

To retrieve a copy of the old favorites is necessary to find the folder on your computer where the user profile of Firefox.

As with the profile of the open folder, find the file bookmarks.html. It is there that Firefox keeps the favorites. Because you lost the favorites, the file does not exist or should be empty.

Note that there is a folder called bookmarkbackups. Among this folder, is that there are copies of old favorites. See what is the most recent file or when you still had all the favorites.

Now copy the file to the folder above, that is where the bookmarks.html. Now certique themselves that all windows are closed Firefox (Firefox, File> Exit). Now delete the bookmarks.html file and rename the old copy to bookmarks.html.

Ready! Now it's just restart Firefox. All favorites of the "new" bookmarks.html will be loaded.
Case 2: Profile created by mistake

Sometimes the screen appears the manager profiles and people create a new profile without realizing it. A new profile has only the standard favorites. To check, start Firefox by manager profiles.
