Details

At present if you try to access a network folder and if there is network issue it hangs Firefox for a while. If it is a large network, like a co-operate network (WAN) it may take more than 30 seconds to respond with "File Not Found" error. I wish access to file:///// should behave similar to http:// ie, allow tab switching or accessing Firefox menu while trying to load the page at a slow network folder. Or in other words file:///// protocol should be asynchronous. Steps to simulate error:- * start Firefox on windows PC connected to a network * goto firefox address bar * type an invalid network address like \\adsdsdasd\asdsd\ * press enter * try to access firefox menu Result : firefox dont respond for few seconds Expected : firefox menu should open immediately * click stop button Result : stop button is grayed out and dont respond for few seconds Expected : stop button is active, and allow user to click and stop button * check Activity Indicator Result : Activity Indicator is grayed out Expected : Activity Indicator is active * try to switch tab Result : Firefox hangs and dont respond for few seconds Expected : user able to switch tabs
