DESCRIPTION: Right after creating setting up a new mailnews account, one can't type in the body of the message in the compose window. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: * run mozilla -ProfileManager * create a new profile, and start using it * Go to File | New | Message * set up an account (SMTP and IMAP) * click in the "To" field * type an address * click in the "subject" field * type a subject * click in the body of the message * try to type a message ACTUAL RESULTS: * nothing EXPECTED RESULTS: * message shows up BUGGY IN: * Win98 mozilla release nightly 2000-06-20-08-M17 * Linux mozilla debug, my tree, twice in the past few days
That's strange. Are you in html or plain text compose window? What happens if you resize the compose window? Can you see your text?
(Comments all from memory.) I'm in whatever the default is (typed in dbaron@netscape.com in the to: field). If I type, nothing shows up, and if I send, it isn't in the message. I tried resizing one of the times and it didn't help. Also, there's no caret in the body of the compose window when this bug happens, but when it doesn't the caret is there even if the composition area is not focused.
What "theme" for skins are you using? Wondering if related to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43350.
Nope, was classic. It was a completely fresh profile so everything was the defaults.

duplicate bug is still open. I'll mark this verified as duplicate and make a notation in the other bug. Actually, we may want to release note this case.

Are you *sure* this is a duplicate? It really doesn't seem related, and it still exists, but it isn't being tracked much on the duplicate bug.
I'll cc: esther to check.
