Firefox does not use working internet wireless connection gives "Page Load Errors" upon startup. Reverting to Firefox 3 Beta 5 for amd_64 works just fine. I deleted my profile before starting up RC1 so this is not a profile thing.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download Firefox 3 RC1 amd64
2. Start Firefox via "firefox" executable.
3. Notice the "Page Load Error" titles and "Try again" pages.
Actual Results:
No internet connection.
Expected Results:
Connection works.
Trying to start via "firefox-bin" gives a "error while loading shared libraries: libjemalloc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
Trying to start via "run-mozilla.sh" gives "run-mozilla.sh: Cannot execute ."

Encountered the same problem using the wired Ethernet connection on an up-to-date Ubuntu 8.04 amd_64 host.

Can you double-check and see if it's starting up in Offline mode? This is probably bug 424626.

@bhearsum It's not starting up in offline mode.
I've revised the bug title a little to be more accurate (I didn't notice before that I had the 32-bit RC1) and now suspect that I'm missing the proper 32-bit libraries to run on a 64-bit machine; so this might be a distro dependent thing. I'm using an up-to-date install of 64-bit Ubuntu Hardy Heron. The beta5 that came with Hardy Heron is 64-bit.
Curt, are you still experiencing this? What OS did you have the problem on?

Geez, I can't read today "up-to-date Ubuntu 8.04 amd_64 host". Sorry, Curt.
Aleksej, suggested installing 32-bit SSL libraries.

After installing the latest round of Ubuntu 8.04 amd_64 updates, which included the 2.6.24-17 kernel, I re-installed RC1. Internet access is now working.

DUPLICATE for bug 435101

I don't think so. I tried 32-bit Firefox 3.5b4 on Kubuntu 9.04 and I get the same page load errors trying to connect to site, and I *don't* get that jemalloc error. I installed several 32-bit packages in /usr/lib32 and both still start up and display fine, they just can't connect.
I and others also experience the same problem with 32-bit Thunderbird 3.0b2, see bug 480529. I believe both 32-bit applications are experiencing the same problem on x86_64, and it lies somewhere in Core maybe in DNS lookup.

Bug 480529 was resolved by setting network.dns.disableIPv6 to true in about:config.
This could be similar. Can someone who can reproduce the bug test this solution?
