Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows 95) BuildID: M16 I downloaded M16 with Fullcircle(zip file for WIN). I unziped in a new folder. When i click Mozilla it put the splashscreen then it starts to open hundreds of windows(are small windows- just the titlebar).Only the second one have a name - Mozilla, the rest of the windows have no title - not even int the taskbar . The taskbar fils with icons and the windosw stops mozilla -" this program has performed an illegal operation - bla bla bla" and i have to kill him . I used M15 before and it worked well . My operating sistem is Win95 - 4.0.950B My default browser in IE- version 5.00.2919.6307 My computer is a P133 with 32 MB RAM Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Just unzip the archive and run Mozilla.exe on a sistem like mine -like i described earlier 2. 3. Actual Results: Crash Expected Results: Start Full circle eved doesn't start to say it's something wrong . I tried even with a nigtly build - the same result - Maybe it's because of WIn 95 - 4.0.950b If you want addditional information please send me an e-mail . Now i'll try the installer( not the ziped version)
you need to delete previous versions of mozilla including your previous Profiles and the mozregistry.dat file located in the c:\windows dir.
Actually, this sounds like bug 27601, the root cause being that you do not have msvcirt.dll installed in your windows system directory. (This contains runtime code for MSVC++ and is installed by many software applications). One way to get this properly installed is to install Netscape PR1: http://www.netscape.com/download/previewrelease.html or install one of the recent nightly builds: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/mozilla-win32-installer.exe and then to unzip M16 (or use the M16 installer if you prefer). (Even though it seems perverse to install a current nightly, and then install M16, you may prefer to do it this way as the M16 build is (likely) more stable than any given nightly that you might download). Unfortunately, this information was erroneously removed from the release note, and the M16 installer doesn't quite have the right magic bits set up to get this done (I'm working on getting this fixed as well).
yep, this is a profile corruption issue. lowering severit, blocker is only allowed for smoketest blockers. John may be right about the missing file, but I think 95b has it.
Severity: blocker → major
There are some issues however with installing M16 after installing an M17 nightly which may result in corrupted sidebar.
Clean installs of win95B and win2000 do not have msvcirt.dll
