The Google page includes a link to language tools on the right of the search field. But the Firefox start page doesn't. Why not ask Google to add it ?
This should be marked as an enhancement.
There's a loss of functionality for the users of the Firefox start page compared to the original Google page. This could encourage users using the original page instead. I don't know if it has an impact on the Mozilla-Google deal tough.

Yes, check the URL. Additionally, there should be a link to Gmail in the links at the top of the page.

Do you still see this problem when using current release of firefox?

The new Google Firefox start page has improved, but now Firefox has switched to about:home, which doesn't include either Translate, nor Maps or Images. We should ask ourself if we want the user to stick to about:home or if we don't care if he switches to google.com.
Summary: Firefox start page (Google) should include links to language tools and Gmail → Firefox start page (about:home) should provide same functionality as Google page

Other features missing in about:home are search as you type and search by hitting return (instead that clicking on the button).
It seems like the solution would be to just set the homepage to google.com if one expects the functionality for google.com.
