User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 this bug occurred on a fresh install of Firefox and practically a fresh installation of Windows (recently formatted and reinstalled). I visited the site YouTube, naturally forgetting that flash is a required component and after a fresh Windows install I didn't have it anymore, so as Firefox often does it displays a nice window telling me what I need and gets it for me automatically. Sure enough the 'Plugin Needed' box showed up and Flash was there, I downloaded and installed using the automatic plugin installation screens, it said the plug installed successfully and to restart firefox, so I clicked the restart button, but it when I returned to the page Flash still hadn't been installed and the 'Plugin Needed' bar still showed up, so I tried it again to no avail. This seems very buggish but it MAY be due to my computer, either away if it really hasn't installed for any reason a false success screen is not helpful. As a workaround I had to download adobes own installer and do it that way from their website. As a few extra notes in Firefox 2 this worked perfectly on my machine, I'm using Dual Core, Windows XP SP 3 (32 bit) and I was running as an administrator at the the time of the install. Good Luck, please do let me know if there is a problem with my CPU configuration or something else. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Uninstall all Flash Plugins to do with Firefox (IE ones don't seem to interfere) 2.Head to a flash intensive site (YouTube.com, Adobe.com) 3.try using the Automatic Plugin Installer Actual Results: Success of install was reported but flash plugin still was not present or was present but not configured properly to work with Firefox Expected Results: Displayed flash media content and installed successfully OR told me that my install had failed as it indeed had done. Default Theme On-Access Virus scanner (Avast!) Using a BETA or RC I believe Had Internet Explorer open at the Time
