the two font selection widgets on the upper right look malformed.
when selected,they assume a normal shape.

I'm not sure I understand ... what do you mean they are malformed and assume a

To clarify, it appears that the font selection widgets ( default to "Normal" 
and "Variable Width" ) are set to the minimum size when composer
is launched. 

The appearance is that "Normal" and "Variable Width" are written across
several widgets. Sometimes selecting the widgets they belong to causes
the widgets to expand and look "normal" ( ie they actually contain
the words "Normal" and "Variable Width" ).

Hmmm, I'm not seeing that problem in my 06/27/00 Linux build. What build date/ID 
are you using?

it only occurs when using the Classic skin.
the modern skin does not exhibit this behavior.

Ok, after switching to the classic skin, I see the problem. It's not an editor 
problem.

Changing summary from "font selector malformed " to "Select/Combobox drawing 
outside it's bounds". Changing component from "Editor" to "HTML Form Controls".

Reassigning to [e-mail] who works on Comboboxes. Cc'ing 
[e-mail] since he is working on the Classic Skin.

Rod, to see the problem, change the skin you use to "Classic", and then bring up 
the composer window. The 2 comboboxes on the editor toolbar draw outside their 
bounds.

waqar, this is definitely a Linux only issue.

The only problem I see with two is the text is drawing outsize, the combo box
itself is drawing fine.

Just tested on Linux and it works. Reopen if appropriate.
