When I closed Firefox while downloading file, there is no notification telling me that I am actually downloading a file. Then, the downloading file will just pause there and the .part file will still remain there including with the actual file.
After I reopen Firefox, there is no any continue button in the Download Manager to continue on the downloading of the file.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download a file
2. Close Firefox when downloading the file
3. No notification telling that firefox is actually downloading a file
Actual Results:
The file remains as uncompleted downloaded file with the .part file.
Expected Results:
Notification telling you that you are actually downloading a file and you must finish downloading the file then only you can close firefox.

The new firefox automatically continues downloads when the browser is reopened if it was in middle of downloading.
Is that not working for you?

Yes. It doesn't continue downloads when the browser is reopened.

The new version of Firefox does behave as Natch explains. However, I've noticed 2 things.
1) If you Quit the application, whilst downloading a file, and the focus is on the Downloads Window, you will get a quit notification message.
2) If you're main focus is on a tab or the main browser window, there is no notification of download termination or that you are in the process of downloading a file.
In both cases above, when the application was restarted, the download resumed and completed. But the download screen is not active, it seems to resume the download whilst in the background and gives no notification.
BTW - I am running a PPC Mac Dual 1.8GHz G5 on 10.5.3

Can you write up clear steps to reproduce, because if a single window of any kind is still opened the firefox exe is still active (you can see it in the task manager) and therefore the download notification won't come up, is this the case or are all windows already closed...

I am not sure that the download is continued or not after I restart the Firefox. But, I am sure that there is no active download indicator on the lower right of the screen. To reproduce this since I am on a Mac:
1. Download a file.
2. When Firefox is still downloading the file, close Firefox with the "Cmd + Q". I am sure that "Cmd + Q" shuts down Firefox completely.
3. No notification shows that downloading is running when you shut down Firefox.
