My work uses Groupwise Messenger as in-house IM. They are using version 2.0.1 released on 3/29/2006. Had not had problems clicking on hyperlinks in the IMs that are sent, while Firefox is the default browser. After installing Firefox 3 yesterday it now gives an error when you click a hyperlink. 
Error:
 "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -requestPending -osint -url "%1
Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -requestPending -osint -url "%1'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Receive a hyperlink in Groupwise Messenger
2.Click on hyperlink to open

Actual Results:  
Received error listed above in Details section. Click "OK" on the error, and the page does not load, but everything is fine. No programs crash or anything.

Expected Results:  
Should have opened the hyperlink in a new tab in Firefox.

I have tried rebooting the computer, but yielded the same results. I have not re-installed the Groupwise Messenger as I don't have access.

I too have this problem and we are running groupwise messenger 2.0.3.  This feature was working fine with all versions of FF2

We use the same command line as Firefox 2 in Firefox 3 except we use long paths that are quoted. As a workaround you can most likely change the path to firefox.exe to a unquoted short path in HKCR\http\shell\open\command. This is most likely due to GroupWise IM using custom code instead of the API calls provided by the OS to launch urls and it will need to be fixed on the GroupWise side. Have you reported a bug to GroupWise and if so, can you provide info in this bug to track their progress?

We have the same problem happening within my organization.  We had to change our browser to IE for default or copy and paste the link into FF3 for it to work.

We have contacted Novell and they have a Bug Track# 402971 for this issue.  They are aware of the problem and working to resolve it.

Groupwise Messenger has since become Novell Messenger. We are running version 2.10 now and I believe this issue has been resolved. Thank you for you responses. I apologize for the delayed reply.

I believe this was fixed with an upgrade to groupwise instant messenger 2.04 (the version we are currently running).  I believe the workaround that I used to make it work was to chang ethe path listed in the registry to use the 8.3 formated path to firefox.exe.  This seemed to have worked until firefox was updated. The path would have to be changed back to 8.3 format again.  However, like I mentioned, upgrading to version 2.0.4 (or newer) seems to have addressed the problem.
