When browsing many tabs I often follow a link in one tab and then switch to the next tab while the previous one loads its new page.

In previous releases this would very often cause the link I clicked to open in a new tab. With Firefox 3 it is no longer so common but it does still happen.

This is more of a problem for web apps than for plain old web pages.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open pages in several tabs
2. Click on a link in one tab
3. Hit control+tab right away
Actual Results:  
The link clicked sometimes opens in a new tab

Expected Results:  
The link clicked should have opened in the existing tab

May be Windows specific. Has been around for at least one year but happens less often. Depends on hitting the "next tab" key quickly after clicking a link, which may not happen in many people's browsing styles. Doesn't happen every time.

I frequently see the opposite problem: when Firefox is overloaded, and I Ctrl+click a link (and then let go of Ctrl), it ends up opening in the same tab.

This bug was reported using Firefox 3.0 or older, which is no longer supported. The bug has also not been changed in over 500 days and is still in UNCO.
Reporter, please retest this bug in Firefox 3.6.10 or later using a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles. If you still see this problem, please update the bug. If you no longer see the bug, please set the resolution to RESOLVED, WORKSFORME.
