This bug is *NOT* talking about:
- "Bookmarks" drop down menu (top left of window)

This IS talking about:
- Add/modify bookmarks dialog

Accessed by any of the following:
- Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page (Ctrl+D)
- Double clicking the Star in the Smart Location Bar

Note: "Slowdown" represents window/dialog speed/responsiveness, especially in comparison to performing the same actions on FF =< 2.0.0.14.

Problem #1:
Instant slowdown in browser/dialog performance (sometimes instability) when doing any of the following in the "Add/modify bookmarks" dialog:
- Opening/closing the dialog (often slow response causes all of FF to lag, also done/cancel/remove)
- Expanding the "Folders" drop down to browse folders/bookmarks
- Scrolling through the list of bookmarks (note I have many)
- Selecting bookmarks/folders (clicking on, or especially [trying to] drag)
- Expanding Folders containing numerous bookmarks/folders (note I have many)

** ALL of the above issues are exacerbated when Firefox is using more memory (specifically: more tabs currently opened -or- even more tabs previously opened since FF was opened but are now closed). But these issues exist anyways sometimes.

Reproducibility: 95% of the time.

The rest of this bug is in regards to the related crash:

Problem #2:
The one crash occurred while 11 tabs were open, and about 15 more were previously opened but had since been closed. Firefox was using approximately 123mb of memory. (there was plenty of free physical and virtual memory)
- I bookmarked a page
- expanded the Folders
- clicked "new folder"
- I did NOT type in a name (the folder did not appear where I wanted it to), but instead scrolled up (caused bad lag/unresponsiveness)
- I expanded a folder with 6 folder/bookmarks inside (caused more bad lag/unresponsiveness)
- to make it stop trying to expand the folder, I single clicked on the parent folder I was trying to expand, apparently accidentally dragged it a pixel or two. The cursor remained the "dragging" cursor and everything became unresponsive until it crashed.
Just before it crashed, I minimized Firefox, and the Add/modify bookmarks dialog appeared on top of my desktop/other applications for a few minutes - stuck in memory or something.

*** NONE of the above issues occur when browsing bookmarks via the "Bookmarks" menu bar (top left) -OR- the Bookmarks Organizer/Library ("Organize Bookmarks...")

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

I have 300+ bookmarks/folders.

Computer:
1GB DDR400
2.2Ghz AMD
WinXP SP3

I might note that the apparently intentional 1-2 second delay of highlighting a bookmark/folder after it is clicked on in the "Add/modify bookmarks" dialog is very annoying.
Is this a duplicate of bug 427521?
Yes, It appears to be. Marked appropriately.
