(Whiteboard: [nsbeta3-])

06-27-09-M17 WinNT commercial build: Need to handle same folder name for uppercase & lowercase. 1) Create same folder names with just different 1st letter with uppercase & lowercase. (Ex: Alec, alec) 2) Actual Results: The second time created folder (alec) will replace the first time fodler (Alec) in the folder pane Expected results: Should create different folders separately with different 1st letter with uppercase & lowercase. (Should create Alec & alec two folders separately) Addtional Info: 1)From the server, I can see these two folders been created separately. 2) From the subscribe dialog, I can see these two folders have been created separately, but they are not created separately from the Folder Pane only.
Adding nsbeta2.

Karen - when you nominate for nsbeta2, you need to say why. :-) I'm removing nsbeta2 pending your comments. Is it because the messages in the first folder (which is being replaced) get lost? Is there a way to bring back that folder?

Investigating and narrowing down this problem: After I exit the application and bring up the application again, it only display the 1st letter with lowercase SAME folder name, no matter you create the lowercase first or uppercase first. The folder pane just didn't display the 1st letter with uppercase SAME folder name at all (even I have tried to subscribe and unsubscribe the folder, still no use). This will ONLY impact the user if they want to copy messages to that 1st letter with uppercase SAME folder name -- will let developer to decide which beta should be in, but will suggest at least to have this fix in beta3.
M18 and nsbeta3. We were also curious why you have a folder on Alec? :-)

Per mail triage, going to create a new bug that we don't allow duplicate names, including uppercase and lower case. (exammple "smith" is the same as "Smith" and we won't allow both of these to be created in the same account).
marking nsbeta1-. The new bug that esther mentions will handle what we want.

Using 08-28-05-trunk build It seems that I can create same folder name for uppercase & lowercase separately now.....Seth, can you confirm that so we can close this bug?

Verified on TB trunk with IMAP. I get two folders until restart, but I think that's my IMAP server not doing thing correctly/fast enough.
Whoa whoa. Yes, it works with IMAP, but not local folders. Testing using Thunderbird version 2.0.0.19 (20090105) on Ubuntu: Renaming to change case on an IMAP folder works. Renaming to change case on a Local Folder DOES NOT work. Error message: "A folder with that name already exists. Please enter a different name." This bug is NOT resolved.
