User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; es-ES; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; es-ES; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 Above URL helps with both things: 1) an example to use with and demonstrate the problem 2) the significance about "accents" in a word, that are involved in this issue If you don't know if a word has accent, and the word is really present with accent in the page you are looking for, when you write it without the accent, you'll can't find it. Also, this is a common issue with Person Names. For example, this problem happens with a name like "Pedro Almodóvar". Suppose you are in a page that you want to look for the name of "Almodóvar"... I mean if we have an US-english keyboard we can't write 'ó' instead of 'o', (or suppose you don't remember that Almodóvar writes with accent)... When we write "Almodovar"... you'll see that the browser can't find the word; try it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Almod%C3%B3var This thing happens too with the Address Book of Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.14. We need to keep in the address book all names without accent, if we want to find them. In Google: try to search for "Almodovar" and you'll see that Google Search Engine knows you refer to (Pedro)Almodóvar, with accent. I know, this issue might involve too hard work, research, and new code implementation, with too much accent variants we have in all languages in the world (each language might have different accent or symbols, i.e. French has more accent than Spanish, and Swedish has different ones). But I think this issue is needed to be solved for people that speak english and for other people too, like I tried to show some lines above. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. go to a page with accents http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acute_accent#Technical_notes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Almod%C3%B3var 2. CTRL+F to search with "Find Toolbar" 3. Write "Almodovar" Actual Results: Almodovar WITHOUT accent isn't found Expected Results: Almodóvar WITH accent is found.
Summary: the Find Toolbar can't find a word with acute accent → the Find Toolbar can't find a word with accents
