User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 I would like to be able to add incompatible addons to my Firefox Extension Manager. My reasons are so the Extension Manager will periodically search for updates for that addon. This is a problem for moving from Firefox 3. If I had migrated from Firefox version 2 to version 3, the incompatible extensions are kept on the Extensions Manager list and are periodically checked for updates. On a fresh install of Firefox 3, I cannot add incompatible extensions and I have to remember to search every now and then for addon updates. In addition, Mozilla can track statistics of requests for incompatible addons. If there is lots of demand for a particular addon that has not been updated, perhaps the Mozilla team can help out? For example, by contacting the author and finding out if the author is planning an update. Or if not, if the author is willing to provide the source code to their addon so that someone else could take over. The Mozilla side of the upgrade from FireFox version 2 to version 3 went smoothly. However, I am frustrated that a number of my favorite addons are not FireFox 3 compatible - though beyond the control of the Mozilla team. The same will happen on the migration to FireFox version 4. Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
